He talks about his 'take aways' from the book and how it made him "...recall my own upbringing, career choices, and future outlook. Some of my high-level takeaways:
We all have choices. It's tough to know which ones are "correct" in advance, but the key is how you respond to the emergent outcomes you encounter along the way.
Meaningful results take time. Achieving success at scale takes a lot of hard work over years of foundational work. This lesson is absent from today's instant gratification society.
Things change. The world is a different place today and to get value from history, you need to study strategy and adapt tactics. Simply copying behaviors won't do much for you. "

Finding Inspiration
I do yoga, meditation, read inspirational books, listen to inspirational podcasts...all of which are helpful, yet sometimes short lived.
I was taken aback however when I read www.beingpeterkim.com post last week, a book review of "The Blue Sweater".
I have ordered the book and am anxious to determine my own 'take aways'. I am still thinking about what he said, especially, "meaningful results take time".

Month Six and Staying Positive
I am now moving into unemployment-month six...but fear not! I am still on track. My target date is September 1.
I remind myself daily that this is the time to also take advantage of my free time and go back to school, update my skill set, do something weekly outside of my comfort level, perfect my French, learn to make pasta from scratch, and.....breathe.
The WSJ last week had a good article 5/28 in the "Personal Journal" about 'ditching the job fairs' and attending networking clubs for 'the unemployed'! I like that idea. Because different from attending other types of networking events with the employed, at least attending something like the Laid off Camp, or The 405 Club, or Layoff Moveon, there is a common ground to share stories, websites, books, and just plain ole' talk.
Check out: How to Find a Job on Twitter! It also has a lot of good comments if you scroll down. http://tinyurl.com/cwjzxy
Ciao for now!
